Is American Indian (can't recall which tribe, and hopefully I spelled it right) for 'butterfly', which is what the Celtic knotwork on her dress reminds me of. I adore this picture, it is one of the most inspired pieces of art I have done in a long while for myself. I have spent many a long minute just staring at it, not counting the time I spent drawing it. <:) I was a one point thinking of Sofia Carvalho, an awesome commentator of mine, and of Goldmoon of Dragonlance (no, it is not her!). Also I thought that Kiowa's story might be that she is watching for her love's ship to come, like in some of those Celtic ballads. An artist's mind rambles while making art. :)
Scottish Humor:The two old Scots had imbibed overmuch. Saying his good-night, the one told the other: 'John, man, when ye gang oot at the door, ye'll see twa cabs. Tak' the first yin - the t'ither ane's no' there!'

*stares in shock, then dies and falls over* Oh my GOD!!!! This is so incredibly amazing!!!! Thank you thank you thank you so much!!!!! And I got first comment!!! Whohooo! You've just made my day Jenny!!!!
Wow, the picture is amazing. I adore her hair, her outfit, the background, the dragon, everything!!! Sorry, I can't think of something witty to say, I'm still feeling numb!! 2
Thank you again!!!!! *********

1 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: *bows* Thank you and you're very welcome, Sofia! I am glad you got first comment, and that you like it so much! I tried coloring it but I messed the coloring up, and then I wanted to kill it (but I restrained myself and started working on a background for Kit). I need to do that when I haven't just read 6 books on watercolor and think that I can just go "swoosh swoosh" with the brush and have something amazing! <2 Oh check out my new Tas drawing. 2"

I am at a loss for words. This picture is spectacular! She looks so at peace, yet happy at the same time. You really are talented.

*Stares* Wow. *Stares some more* You know, I think I hear her singing! In fact... It's the first song on my Celtic Romance collection! This is the first time I've ever had music pop into my head while looking at a drawing. I love the color as well, so soft and kind of mournful but also kind of happy and a not-quite-vibrant-but-more-of-an-earth-tone-but-really-close-and-stand-out-yet-bland-in sort of hue. And then that makes her even more spectacular.... Just wow! I love it!

1 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Whooo! Celtic music is awesome! 1 About the color, I wanted to get away from the regular black, and this color seems to suit the picture, as you noted. 2"

Very sweet. I really like what you did with her hair. The detail on the dress is nicely done as well.

1 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: *bows* Glad you like it!"

Very nice, she seems delicate, but still rather earth-bound. Sweet picture. BTW, I think the Kiowas were even a tribe of their own... and there's also a type of helicopter with that name... Okay, you probably didn't want to know that...^^'

2 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: That is an interesting tidbit, I think I have heard that before, but forgot about it. 2 Thanks for dropping by! 2"

I can't tell if she's native american only by the clothes but if you darkened her skin u could! But i absolutely love it! The scene is very moving, peaceful, and very structered. Very well detailed. 2

How the heck can somebody draw so well??? I must kno!! AAA!!! lol everything about this picture is perfect...it makes me want to feel the wind in my hair too! 12

7 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "Jenny's Note: Hi again Eva, I'm glad you like this picture, it is one of my favorites! 2 As for drawing, I was homeschooled too (from 7th grade), somehow I got time for lots of drawing (in between battling with math books!). I also used to be more dedicated than I am now, drawing every day (I guess it helps to not have a job *laughs*). I'd finish 4 greyscale pieces a month (see Bjorn for a sample) in a sketch book I kept. I read a lot of art books, Jack Hamm has some good ones, and so does Lee Hammond. Oops, I'm rambling on! Thanks for popping in, I still love that little "Cocoa Bean" winged rat you did, so cute!"

I think that this photograph is the best thing that has
ever crossed my eyes. First my name is kiowa, and I
love celtic artwork. My mother named me Kiowa because she fell in love with the name after reading an Indian novel. Seeing this image was quite an amazement...You are extremely talented and have found a new real fan...

1 Jenny M. Heidewald replies: "  Jenny's Note: Hi Kiowa! Thank you for sharing your story, that is awesome! 2 This is one of my favorite pictures. I was planning to eventually color it, and offer prints, in both versions. "
